It was really good to have a fresh young approach to judging, and martin proved that despite his judging inexperience, he is obviously a very knowledgeable photographer and knew what to look for in our images. In total there were 51 PDIs, which represented 17 members, a slight increase on the previous competition. The set subject was " Water ", and certainly all the images contained water in some form, i.e the sea, rivers, ice and steam. Waterfall and rough sea shots proved popular. Although water was present in all entries, some tended to have the interest more centred on other features such as buildings, boats etc. Martin also felt that some images leaned more towards being " snapshots "- it was clear that he was looking for impact, unusual viewpoints, and something a bit different. Although he did point out some technical weaknesses, he overlooked these if the picture had some " wow " factor. His comments were positive and always laced with humour.
The winners for the night were Richard Keating in 1st position, followed by Janet Marshall in second, with joint third being taken by Drew Malloch and David Simpson.
