This evening the club welcomed Jeremy Martin, sales manager of Tamron lenses, from the importer Intro2020, for his first visit. The company is based in Maidenhead, so is convenient for club members for service and spares!
Intro 2020 are agents for many brands of photographic accessories, the main product being Tamron lenses, which come in fittings for all major brands of DSLR such as Nikon, Canon and Sony. Jeremy brought for our inspection a huge number of different lenses, from the 150-600mm superzoom, to a new range of fixed focal length prime lenses for ultimate quality. He also brought Canon and Nikon bodies to allow members to see the actual effect of these lenses. He also showed us lens filter sets bearing famous names such as Hoya and Cokin, in particular neutral density filters of all types, from graduated for darkening skies only, those giving a small exposure increase to ones which appear almost black and provide very long time exposures in daylight to give, for example, fluffy effects on waterfalls and waves. Intro also market several brands of tripod, and a wide range of other accessories, too many to mention here.
Jeremy also showed us how Tamron lenses perform by means of a wide selection of his own images, which proved what an excellent photographer he is, some superb shots which impressed his audience.
Although this was not a sales event, it is fairly certain that several members will now be visiting local retailers ( and even the internet ) to find out more about prices, having been inspired to add to their lens collection.
There is no meeting next week, so Happy Easter to all our members.
