Michel Claverie – Adelaide

Unfortunately, the speaker for Reading Camera Club’s meeting on 29th September had to withdraw at the last moment because of covid.

However, luckily, our Chairman, Michel Claverie, was able to step in to give a talk he had previously presented to a meeting of the RPS Travel Section, titled “Snapshots from my Faraway Hometown”.

Michel Claverie

In his presentation, Michel showed us a collection of images, characterised by beautifully saturated colours, featuring life in Adelaide (capital of South Australia) and grouped around several themes: The Ocean, The City, The People, Messages in Street Art, Trees and Plants and Self Portrait.

Adelaide is maybe not as well known in this country than some other parts of Australia. We are used to seeing photos of Australian wildlife and landscape, and of Sydney or Melbourne, but Michel’s pictures showed us that there is much more to the Adelaide area than just growing wine, and the city clearly deserves to be much better known outside Australia.

Our next meeting, which is our first projected image (PDI) competition of the 2023-2024 season will be on Friday 6th October.
