Print Competition 3

Steve Kirkby CPAGB was our judge at Reading Camera Club last Friday for our third Print Competition of the 2023-2024 season. This was a themed competition – “Photographing Food” – and members submitted up to 3 prints for consideration. Scores in individual competitions count towards the Chandler Trophy awarded at the end of the season.

Steve also gave us a taste of the audio-visual work that he does, with several AV presentations featuring a range of subjects including Newbury Pride and Winchester Cathedral. He shared many useful tips with us on what goes into making a good audio-visual.

Entries to the competition showed different approaches to the subject, some members concentrating on the food itself, others taking inspiration from “photographing” food, by including a camera in their shot. The highest scoring entry was an ingenious picture of a deconstructed burger.

Next Friday we have a presentation titled “Railways To Royalty” by Jack Boskett (see https://www.jackboskett.co.uk//)/

Many of the highest scoring images from previous competitions can be viewed on our website https://www.readingcameraclub.co.uk which also has details of the club and of future meetings. Our meetings are held in Earley, Reading, and guests are very welcome to join our meetings, most of which are held both in the Hall and also on Zoom.
